Cookie Policy
Last updated July 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how YesChef (Pty) Ltd (“YesChef”, “we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our marketing site, customer ordering pages, vendor portal, or admin dashboard. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We also use closely related technologies (such as localStoragein your browser) that work in similar ways. In this policy, “cookies” covers all of these.
2. Categories of cookies we use
2.1 Strictly necessary
Required for the platform to function. Without these we can’t keep you signed in, hold items in your cart, process an order, or remember your cookie preferences. These cookies do not require consent and cannot be turned off.
- Authentication session cookies for vendor and admin sign-in
- Customer-app session and order-tracking cookies
- Cart state on customer ordering pages
- Your cookie consent record itself
2.2 Analytics
Help us understand how the platform is used so we can improve it. These cookies are only set if you accept them. You can opt in or out at any time using the Cookie Settings link in our footer.
- Product analytics (e.g. PostHog): page views, feature usage, performance
2.3 Marketing
Help us deliver more relevant promotions and measure the effectiveness of our advertising. Off by default. We only set these cookies, and only load the advertising tools below, after you opt in. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie Settings link in our footer.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) Pixel and Conversions API: measure ad performance and order conversions
- Google Ads conversion and remarketing tags: measure ad performance
To measure a completed order accurately, we may also send a matching conversion event from our servers to Meta. We only do this for orders where you opted in to marketing cookies, and any personal identifiers are hashed before they are sent.
3. Error reporting
We use Sentry to capture errors so we can fix bugs. Error reports do not rely on tracking cookies and are processed under our legitimate interest in keeping the platform reliable. No analytics or marketing cookies are set by error reporting.
4. Managing your preferences
When you first visit a YesChef page, you’ll see a cookie banner with Accept, Reject, and Customize options. Your choice is stored for up to 13 months, after which we’ll ask you again.
You can change your choice at any time using the button below. You can also clear cookies in your browser settings, which will reset our banner on your next visit.
5. Shared-device kiosks
On vendor-operated self-service kiosks the cookie banner does not appear, because kiosks are shared devices and per-customer consent isn’t meaningful. Only strictly necessary cookies are used on these surfaces.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we materially change which cookies we set or how we use them, we’ll re-prompt you for consent.
